With motifs based on the natural history of the Llano Estacado, Teeters conveys that Texas Tech is a natural home for ideas to be planted, incubated, and allowed to flourish. The four seasons and the phases of the moon remind the viewer of the cycles of time, growth, and change. The western panels represent Spring and the raw beauty of furrowed fields ready to be planted. Summer, a season illuminated by life and rapid growth, is depicted on southern panels. The eastern panel’s mature plant forms symbolize Fall, when ideas are ready for harvest. To the north is Winter, a time for quiet reflection on lessons learned.
