Studio Art's Desire

American
Glass and high-density foam

Transitions captures the college experience using hand-blown glass orbs (representing students), which converge and disperse from all directions. These orbs float in space, suspended from thin wires, and are drawn toward and through cutouts in a large monolith (representing the university). Their passage through can be read two ways: 1. Students come from various locations and converge upon Texas Tech, exiting with purpose and direction; or 2. students begin more or less equally and, through their experiences, exit Texas Tech and scatter across the country.
