San Angelo Heritage Mosaic, 2013

American
Ceramic Tile

This mosaic reflects the connections between Angelo State University and the surrounding community. The sides of the wall depict landscape scenes including native plants, wildlife and symbols derived from the nearby Paint Rock pictographs painted by the Jumano Native Americans. The top of the wall depicts “snapshot” elements important to San Angelo cultural identity, such as a Rambouillet Ram, an Aeromotor windmill, the historic railroad trestle bridge over the Concho River, and “Mia’s Alice” and “Texas Dawn” species grown at the International Water Lily Gardens.
