This interactive installation is a living symbol of health, compassion and scientific inquiry. PULSE pairs the ancient symbol of divine care for humanity with an anatomically accurate circulatory simulation. This work replaces the systems normally found inside walls with the beating heart of the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. The rate of the heartbeat and breathing changes with the number of people occupying the building at the present moment.
