This sculpture is located adjacent to the main building of the National Ranching Heritage Center and features a horse and rancher. A smaller version of the bronze equestrian was originally commissioned to be presented annually as the National Gold Spur Award to a deserving ranching family. Funded by the Lubbock Cultural Affairs Council Grants Program and individual contributions, the life-size casting was dedicated in September 1987.
