Artist Michael Hurd is the son of well-known artists Peter Hurd and Henriette Wyeth Hurd. He works from reality and believes the actual subject must be experienced to convey it in a painting. His paintings are left open-ended and ambiguous for the viewer to resolve. Hurd seeks to make the viewer an integral part of the painting’s function and does not want to define meanings so tightly that they are inescapable.
