Red Tail, 2019

A red-tailed hawk soaring over an arroyo is an iconic Texas scene. Both the hawk and the arroyo are symbolized by the eco-garden and sculpture at the museum’s main entrance. The red-tailed hawk is a year-long resident of the Lubbock area. The Red Tail sculpture highlights freedom, aspiration, and the glories of nature. It is fitting to have a bird known for its keen eyesight placed in front of the Museum of Texas Tech University.
